Leave a Little Sparkle Unicorn Card
Hello crafty people! It's the WEEKEND!!! Any fun plans now that it is Summer? We don't go on vacay until the end of next month so just taking it easy until then. Though with all the wildfires around us here in Arizona the smoke is playing havoc on my allergies, so definitely staying inside. Prayers to all the firefighters on the front line! Have you looked through the new Stampin' Up! catalog yet? When I saw it for the first time 2 months ago at OnStage in Utah the second I saw the stamp set I am used today I knew I had to get it. Here is my card.....
I have loved unicorns since I was a very small child. They were very popular while I was growing up and they were the number one thing I would draw on everything! For my card I did the heat embossing first on watercolor paper so that the white embossing would stand out more once I watercolored the background.
For the watercoloring I choose three colors that I knew would blend well and once I had done the heat embossing and let it cool for a couple minutes, I got the whole paper wet with my Aqua Painter. I took the color, which in this case was Highland Heather, was going to be my middle color and put it down first. Then I put the lighter color, Flirty Flamingo, on the top blending well into the middle color. Next I took the darkest color, Night of Navy, an did the same as the top color blending well with the middle color. You have to make sure you paper stays somewhat wet or you won't get a nice watercolored look.
For the inside I just added a layer behind the Whisper White for a little extra color and kept the stamping simple. I can't wait to make more things with this stamp set! I will definitely post them here for you all to see when I do. Thanks so much for coming to my blog to see my projects. Hope you have a great weekend and a great day!
