Rustic Retreat Manly Birthday Card

Hello crafty people and welcome to a new week! Did you have a fun weekend? We seem to be having a heat wave right now so I have been avoiding going outside until it gets dark. It has been hard to sleep at night too. I absolutely can't sleep when it's hot. How about you? I am just so wanting for Fall to start as it is my fave season of the year. Here is my card.....

If you ask most stampers/crafters one of the hardest cards to make is one for a man. For some reason manly cards often elude us, because for one I think most stampers are female and do the majority of card giving. But I think this stamp set would be perfect for the "Outdoors" man in your life. You could even do Christmas type cards too.

I wanted to keep the outside feel to this card so I decided to use the Birch stamp on the background then to heat emboss it with white. I also embossed the bottom layer with the Corrugated Embossing Folder for added texture. I wanted to keep the embellishing to a minimum so I just added some Braided Linen thread and Metallic Pearls in Gold.

I wanted to deer to be more realistic looking so I actually went online to look up some pics of them. Most are dark on top and lighter underneath so i went with that. I also made a mask of the deer so I could stamp the tree line behind it. To do this I just stamped the deer on a post-it over the sticky side and then fussy cut it out. Then I stamped and colored the deer.  I placed the mask over the top, stamped the tree line, and then pulled the mask off. Tip: I keep the mask in the stamp case with the stamp so it is there for me to use again if I want to.

I kept the inside simple with just a birthday sentiment and the tree line. You don't need much more for this manly card and I think it would be perfect for the outdoor man in your life. If you would like to purchase any of the items I used for this card I have listed them all down below, just click on any of the pics to be taken to my online store.
