Non Water Watercoloring Card Using Spirited Snowmen & Facebook Live
Hello crafters! It is Fri-YAY!!! Yesterday I had a really fun Facebook live over on my Facebook page. I talked and showed how you can make a really cool watercolored background without using any water. As everyone knows water and paper don't mix which is why in the creative world there is something called Gesso. It is used to seal paper so that water doesn't get absorbed into it and ruin it, but Stampin' Up! doesn't sell this so I was trying to find an alternative and I did!!! Here is the card I showed...
This technique was created out of need...I needed a way to do a watercoloring on a piece of 12x12 Whisper White cardstock for a scrapbook page for a design team project next week. I thought if I can't use gesso then what do I use to to keep the paper from being destroyed by the water and I thought, "What about rubbing alcohol?"
In the crafting, mostly scrapbooking, world there is a technique called the Packaging technique that uses ink, water, and a piece of plastic packaging to make a really neat coloring effect on the background paper. Because of the gesso the water downed ink floats on the paper and this allows for the effect to take place. Here is one of the backgrounds I made on the live on a card.
You can do this technique with any of the Stampin' Up! colors and you can even mix them I just suggest doing 1 color at a time so you are not mixing colors on your pads.
I really hope you learned a fun new technique and give it a try. Thanks for looking at my blog and don't forget to sign up so you know when I post new ones and also to get my newsletter each month.
I have a promotion running right now with this stamp set that if you purchase ALL 5 of the showcase items through me I will send to you a free card kit to make 2 of 3 different card designs and I will include an exclusive video of me assembling the cards that you will be able to follow along with and view at any time when you have a chance. Here is all the info. Sorry the free card kit is only available to US residents.
