100th Blog Post! CASEing The Catalog Cards

Hi everyone! This is my 100th blog post!!! So I thought I would do something special. Whenever I am lacking in mojo or ideas on what to make next, a great place to look is the Stampin' Up! catalog and the new one is loaded. I got mine out and starting looking through it to find my next idea and I found a great one on pg. 20 to show you that even if you don't own the stamp set or dies you can still use the idea.

When I am looking at something to CASE I try to look at the basic design and colors and not necessarily the stamp set or paper. By doing this you can use just about any other stamp set and paper in it's place. For these cards that is what I did...I used a stamp set I did own and in one of the cards a whole set of different colors. I did own the Share What You Love DSP (Designer Series Paper) that was used in the original and decided to run with these colors for the two cards.

I wanted to use two different stamps on the front to give a little difference, but just about everything else is the same just a different color. And everywhere that I used silver with the green one I used gold for the other. I did do heat embossing on both just like in the catalog image. I love how the embossing frames the sentiment and plays off of the Glimmer Paper. Also, the Delightfully Detailed DSP sticking out from underneath the oval to resemble the original image, because I didn't have the dies used on that card.

I also decorated the inside of the cards too. Each one has a different sentiment, but the design around them is the same...just different colors too. Never forget to stamp the inside, only takes a few extra moments to show someone you care about, how much you really do...plus since you have your stamps and ink out stamp your envelope too. Whenever I take these special envelopes to my post office to mail the staff always loves seeing how I have decorated them. Thanks everyone and I hope you have enjoyed my 100th blog post.

Hugs,

Julie
