Global Design Project #086-Sketch Challenge

Hello again...how have you all been? I hope all you mothers out there are having a great Mother's Day today and enjoying a day all to yourself. My boys have both wished me a Happy Mother's Day today, and I will call my mom in just a little bit. I did make her a card along with my two sister-in-laws which I will post this week. I think they turned out pretty cute. I made a goal starting May 1st to send out a handmade card to all my family members for the various holidays and birthdays that happen in the year. I'm a little late with my Mother's Day cards but they are going in the mail tomorrow for sure.
Speaking of handmade cards, I have a new card for you to see today for the Global Design Project Challenge. It is also for one of my niece's birthdays. This week on GDP the challenge is a sketch. I'm not sure if I like sketches too much. To me I always have a harder time coming up with an idea when faced with a sketch. I prefer color or theme challenges. I know a lot of people out there prefer sketches to get them started on a project and I used to be on a scrapbooking design team that used sketches but that was a few years ago. Here is the sketch:

For this challenge, I first started as I normally do for sketches, with looking at Stampin' Up!'s DSP (Designer Series Paper). When I pick one I think would be a good match, I often go for the stamp set that matches the paper too. I also had an agenda with this card as it was for a young girl's birthday as well, so that made the choosing a little easier. So I went with Tasty Treats Specialty DSP, Cool Treats stamp set and Frozen Treats Framelits.

I did, however, use a different birthday greeting as the one's in the set were just too big for the front of my card. I used one from Balloon Adventures stamp set, and this stamp set is retiring too. I also used the Washi Tape from the Cool treats Suite and a new item from the new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. It is the Oh My Stars TIEF (Textured Impressions Embossing Folder).

I continued the theme to the inside of the card by stamping several strawberries in the corner and a birthday greeting in the middle for my niece who has turned 3 yrs old!

Here are the supplies I used:

I encourage you, if you haven't already, to purchase this Bundle as even though it is continuing into the new catalog it will not be available as a bundle anymore with the extra 10% discount. Plus this set is just too cute for words! With summer coming up for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere this set is PERFECT!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Are you just a beginner stamper and don't know where to get started? Does stamping scare you? Does the idea of a complete stamping kit with full instructions coming to your door each month sound like a great idea and a way to get started??? Well here it is!! It is called Paper Pumpkin! And if you are a first time subscriber you have the opportunity to get a Paper Pumpkin kit for the next 3 months at a 25% discount.

For only $14.96 a month for the first 3 months you get the chance to check out a great kit! Here are some perks too.
  • The convenience of an all-inclusive kit arriving at your door every month.
  • Exclusive photopolymer stamp sets and the opportunity to build a collection.
  • Crafting time you can count on without a lot of prep work.
  • Trying new techniques.
  • Purchasing past kits and refills so the fun never ends.
  • The quality of the products and variety of projects each month.
  • The surprise factor!

So if you feel that you could use a little stamping and crafting in your life, or you know of someone who could use some crafting time for themselves, then go here! Also, don't forget that Paper Pumpkin would make a great gift for any reason that will be loved, plus they would remember you every month it shows up!

Hugs,
Julie
